This synthetic fragment of beta-amyloid covers amino acid residues 18 to 25. It also corresponds to amino acid residues 704 to 711 of amyloid precursor protein (APP). This peptide is extensively used as an immunogen for the development of anti-beta-amyloid antibodies.
